Life - The Stories of Other People

There are some pieces that I do that I really love when I finish, but I don’t really know how I got here from the original brief.

so this was meant to be more sinister, decay, grimy, it was to represent the client’s recovery, time behind bars and the incredible shift away from his old life into this new and stable one.

We’ll be coming back to this to finish the inside in the summer, taking a more life giving feel. I’m not telling you shit about what I’m putting in there ‘til it’s done though.

Oh and this is a cover-up. The bad news is that I’ve lost that photo. I’m sure I’ll dig it up when I finish the inside and I can share a fully finished sleeve with you.

Neo-noir surreal sleeve tattoo by Samma Charles in Oxford and Boston, featuring skull, woman’s face, and cosmic sun.

This sleeve is more than just a tattoo, it’s a narrative. Every detail is crafted to reflect the client’s journey from incarceration to stability, using decay and grime to symbolize the past and a soon-to-come life-giving element for the future. As a tattoo artist working in both Oxford, UK, and Boston, MA, I specialize in cinematic, symbolic tattoos that capture the turning points in people’s lives.

Whether you're looking to cover up old work or design a tattoo that speaks to who you are now, I build every piece in collaboration with my clients. Your past doesn’t define you—but it can become part of something beautiful.
