A Owl Bruv

Surreal color realism sleeve tattoo by Samma Charles in Oxford and Boston, featuring owl, moon, and fragmented female portrait.

Continuing my theme of not giving clients what they want, look at this owl that Michelle never really asked for.

I reached out asking if she’d like to be part of this new portfolio, and fortunately I didn’t look like a maniac! We finished her back piece a while ago, so compared to the back this is a BREEZE!

She gave me two themes, owls and octopus. I want the plural to be octopedes

Done over two sessions, where I mostly bullied her with awkward areas like the elbow and back of the arm there!

Next we have a session on the inside, but this’ll be more octopus-esque. (I was going to put “octopuss-y” but that felt too gross…)

the bottom part of this tattoo is a couple months healed, neon above the elbow is partly healed, partly fresh. Can we take a moment to appreciate how beautifully healed that is. I’m taking all the credit, and not thanking Michelle for looking after her tattoos because I’m disrespectful.

When you read that, remember that I don’t have a ghost writer or anything…

ANYWAY! June is the next session on this and I’m so excited!

This piece is proof that if you trust me, I’ll deliver something completely different—and way better. Whether it’s a neon owl, an octopus sleeve, or something you didn’t know you wanted until you saw it, I’m here to make custom tattoos that hit hard and heal beautifully.
